Sailing in a gig is an exhilarating (sometimes very wet) and exciting alternative to rowing with speeds of around 12 knots being possible in good conditions with an experienced crew.

Both Fear Not and Frayed Knot are rigged for sailing under a Dipping Lug Mainsail and a Jib-Headed Mizzen.
Fear Not is the current World Champion Sailing Gig!
At present there are only a handful of club members who have the necessary experience to take out a gig under sail, hence sailing opportunities are very limited at present although it is something that the club would like to encourage.
